GAS PUMP SAVINGS YOU CAN USE

Hello Cheap and Cheerful Style Readers. 

So this morning I was perusing my cellphone for emailed saving promotions and wanted to share with you all the savings I get at the pump. I must mention that in no way I'm being sponsored by any of the companies or apps mentioned in this posting. But if its going to save you some money -- I'm telling it!

Keeping it Rolling Cheap and Cheerful

As one of my side hustle, I'm a rideshare driver. The number one product I use the most and to keep my gig rolling is G-A-S.  Now if you haven't noticed gas prices have been like a rollercoaster lately. Also  many of the gas stations are posting two different prices. I'm not talking about Regular and Plus - pay attention, because I played myself when I whipped my car at a station to purchase gas and only to realize after I started pumping the cheaper price posted on the board was for club members only...WTH.  I wasn't happy about paying more, but I needed the gas and it was late.  So rather pout about it, I inquired how to get in on the action and began signing up for those memberships to keep it cheap and cheerful.

I now have many fuel reward cards and apps to keep my side gig rolling.  Long before ridesharing, I have had the Shell Fuel Reward and on a regular I'm already saving $.05 er gallon at the pump.  For those of you who rideshare drive, Lyft* offers Shell Fuel Reward perks as well.  Depending on your driving status -- silver, gold or platinum, that amount can go up from $.07 to $.10 off per gallon. 

In addition to the Fuel Reward savings, my phone carrier, T-Mobile, has a perk called, T-Mobile Tuesday.  Combined with my Fuel Reward, I gained an additional $.10. Now I don't know how long this weekly perk is going to last, but that's $.15 per gallon! The only downside once you redeem the T-Mobile deal, you have until Thursday to use it.

Now my mother used to laugh at me for driving pass one station to another to save a nickle on gas. (And I've only ran totally out of gas once - uno, so hush.) Now when I'm not near the radius of my home I use my Gas Buddy App to see who has the cheapest gas in the area. 

The nice thing about this app, the community of users can update the posted gas prices. We all know depending on which way the economic wind blows a posted price can change from one price in morning to another in the evening. That's where the community of users come in, by updating the app if  price is lower or higher,  you can gain points doing this task. Those points can be used to enter into a sweepstake for $100.  Using the Gas Buddy App you can also save $.05 per gallon if you choose to link your form of payment (bank, credit or debit card) through their app. 

After seeing the on-line commercials I also uploaded the  Get Up Side App for cash back every time I upload my receipt while at the station.  I must let you know not every gas station is a participant on the Get Up Side App, but when you access the app, it will provide a map of qualifying gas station in your location.  Cash payments are not accepted. the app will only pay cash back for uploaded receipts paid for by a card.   Like the commercial says the more you pump the more cash you gain back.  I also discovered when I combined this app with my other fuel rewards the cash back was lowered. The app will send you an email when this occurs.

Some fuel reward cards will give you additional savings when you make purchases inside the station or by linking your grocery reward cards to them. Grocery reward cards such as Harris Teeter's VIC Card or Lowe's Food (who have actual gas stations -- Lowe's Dorchester Rd., Summerville and Harris Teeter on Folly Beach Road, James Island) offers their own gas savings as well by spending a specified amount in the store monthly. 

I recommend  with all reward cards and for your peace of mind on security, read all the contingencies (rules) on their app before uploading
